Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I know what file formats for GPS waypoints/routes should I use?

A: GPSWaypoint is powered by the GPSBabel free software. Please consult the GPSBabel file formats page.

Q: I forgot my GPSWaypoint password, can you send it to me?

A: No. We don't have it either - it's stored in the encrypted form in our data base. Choose the 'Forgot your password?' link in the login page. Fill in the form and we will send a new temporary password to you. You will be able to change it when you log in next time.

Q: Are there any restrictions on the GPS waypoints/routes data that I can store here?

A: Yes, currently there are some. You are restricted on the size of file that you can upload at once. The restriction is 64 KB per file. Each free user account can currently hold a maximum of 1000 waypoints.

Q: I tried to upload a file containing GPS waypoints/routes and I'm getting the Unknown File Format. No Waypoints found in uploaded files error message?

A: Make sure that you did choose an appropriate file format. Probably you just forgot to choose the file format from the drop-down list... Otherwise make sure that you have choosen the format that matches GPS data in the uploaded file. Please consult the list of supported file formats if you have any doubts.
